THE PREPARATION

INTROIT HYMN – Stand

Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
to his feet thy tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
who like me his praise should sing?
Praise him! Praise him!
Praise the everlasting King.

Praise him for his grace and favour
to our fathers in distress;
praise him still the same for ever,
slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Praise him! Praise him!
Glorious in his faithfulness.

Father-like, he tends and spares us;
well our feeble frame he knows;
in his hands he gently bears us,
rescues us from all our foes.
Praise him! Praise him!
Widely as his mercy flows.

Angels, help us to adore him;
ye behold him face to face;
sun and moon, bow down before him;
dwellers all in time and space.
Praise him! Praise him!
Praise with us the God of grace.

All       Thanks be to God

GRADUAL HYMN – Stand  and turn to face the Gospel.

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love:
the love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
that lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
the love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
the love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there’s another country, I’ve heard of long ago,
most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
we may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
and soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
and her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace.

Reader The Lord be with you.

All       And with thy spirit.

The Gospel is announced – Remain Standing, Matthew 5: 1 – 10

All       Glory be to thee, O Lord

Reader This is the Gospel of  the Lord

All       Praise be to thee O Christ

THE BAPTISM OF CHARLOTTE BOWEN

THE DECISION

Priest    You seek baptism for this child. As she grows up she will need the help and encouragement of her family and friends. Will you help her be regular in public worship, and in private payer, not only by your teaching but also by your example and prayers, and encourage her in due time to come to Communion and Confirmation?

            I am willing.

Priest    Those who bring children to Baptism must affirm on the child’s behalf their allegiance to Christ and their rejection of all that is evil. It is your duty to bring up this child to fight against evil and to follow Christ, Therefore I ask:

For all might, majesty, authority and power are yours now and forever.

OFFERTORY HYMN

The wine, bread and collection are taken to the altar

The Altar is prepared for Communion

Lord, for the years your love has kept and guided,

Urged and inspired us, cheered us on our way,

Sought us and saved us, pardoned and provided,

Lord of the years, we bring our thanks today.

Lord, for that word, the word of life which fires us,

Speaks to our hearts and sets our souls ablaze,

Teaches and trains, rebukes us and inspires us,

Lord of the word, receive your peoples praise.

Lord, for our hopes, the dreams of all our living,

Christ and his kingdom one united aim;

Rulers and peoples bound in high thanksgiving,

Lord of our hopes, our trust is in your name.

Lord, for our land, in this our generation,

Spirits oppressed by pleasure, wealth and care;

For young and old, for commonwealth and nation,

Lord of our land, be pleased to hear our prayer.

Lord, for our world; when we disown and doubt him,

Loveless in strength, and comfortless in pain,

Hungry and helpless, lost indeed without him:

Lord of the world, we pray that Christ may reign.

Lord for ourselves; in living power remake us,

Self on the cross and Christ upon the throne;

Past put behind us, for the future take us,

Lord of our lives, to live for Christ alone.

THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER (Prayer of Thanksgiving)

Priest    The Lord be with you.

All       And with thy spirit.

Priest    Lift up your hearts.

All       We lift them up unto the Lord.

We laud and magnify thy glorious name

All       Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts,

Heaven and earth are full of thy glory,

Glory be to thee, O Lord most high.

The priest continues with the Prayer of Consecration.

Priest    ……….ending. Do this in remembrance of me.

Great is the mystery  of faith:

All       Christ has died.

   Christ is risen

Christ will come again

The priest continues with the prayer ending:

    …….through Jesus Christ our Lord

By whom, with whom and in whom,

In the unity of the Holy Spirit

All honour and glory be thine almighty Father,

Now and forever.

All       Amen.

All       Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord

Hossanna in the highest.

Priest    As our Saviour taught us, so we pray.

All       Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come;

thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,

for ever and ever.  Amen.

Priest    We break this bread to share in the Body of Christ.

All       Though we are many, we are one body,

          because we all share in the one bread.

The Agnus Dei

All       O Lamb of God,

That takest away the sins of the world,

Have mercy upon us.

Grant us thy peace.

Please keep your head bowed for a blessing. At the distribution the

administrant says to each communicant:

The Body of Christ

The Blood of Christ

We reply each time: Amen and then receive.

Hymn during Communion

Alleluia! Sing to Jesus!
His the sceptre, his the throne;
alleluia! His the triumph,
his the victory alone:
hark! The songs of peaceful Sion
thunder like a mighty flood;
Jesus out of every nation
hath redeemed us by his blood.

Alleluia! Not as orphans
are we left in sorrow now;
alleluia! He is near us,
faith believes, nor questions how:
though the cloud from sight received him,
when the forty days were o’er,
shall our hearts forget his promise,
“I am with you evermore”?

Alleluia! Bread of angels,
thou on earth our food, our stay;
alleluia! Here the sinful
flee to thee from day to day:
intercessor, friend of sinners,
earth’s Redeemer, plead for me,
where the songs of all the sinless
sweep across the crystal sea.

Alleluia! King eternal,
thee the Lord of Lords we own;
alleluia! Born of Mary,
earth thy footstool, heaven thy throne:
thou within the veil hast entered,
robed in flesh, our great high priest;
thou on earth both priest and victim
in the Eucharistic feast.

THE DISMISSAL

Post Communion Prayer

All       Almighty God,

We thank thee for feeding us

With the Body and Blood of thy Son

Jesus Christ our Lord.

To live and work to thy praise and glory. Amen.

THE BLESSING

God grant to the living grace,

to the departed rest,

to the Church, The Queen, the Commonwealth

and all people, peace and concord,

and to us and all his servants life everlasting,

and the blessing of God Almighty,

Father, Son and Holy Spirit be with you all evermore. Amen

RECESSIONAL HYMN – Stand

Now thank we all our God,
with heart and hands and voices,
who wondrous things hath done,
in whom his world rejoices;
who from our mother’s arms
hath blessed us on our way
with countless gifts of love,
and still is ours today.

O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
with ever joyful hearts
and blessed peace to cheer us;
and keep us in his grace,
and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all ills
in this world and the next.

All praise and thanks to God
the Father now be given,
the Son, and him who reigns
with them in highest heaven,
the one eternal God,
whom earth and heaven adore,
for thus it was, is now,
and shall be evermore.

Priest    The Mass is ended. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord.

All       In the name of Christ. Amen.
